The full review
The Freedom Flex is built on a bet: that you will spend a few minutes every three months activating whatever Chase has picked. In 2026 the categories have included dining, gas stations and EV charging, public transit, live entertainment and charitable donations. When a quarter lines up with your life, the return is hard to beat for a card that costs nothing to hold.
When it does not line up, the card falls back on rates that stand on their own. Three percent on restaurants, including takeout and eligible delivery, applies all year with no activation, and the same rate covers drugstores. When dining also shows up as a quarterly category, the rates stack.
The 15 months of 0% intro APR is a second reason to open it. Most cash back cards give you rewards or a financing window, not both, and this one covers purchases and balance transfers alike.
