United Club Infinite review: lounge access at $695 a year

A United Club membership, two free checked bags and a stack of annual credits, wrapped in the most expensive airline card fee on the market. The math only works if you fly United often.

The verdict

The United Club membership alone can cover most of the fee if you fly United regularly, since buying that membership outright costs more. If you fly a few times a year, the math does not work and a cheaper United card gets you the useful parts.Jump to:The full review

Pros and cons

What works

  • United Club membership included, which costs more bought separately

  • Two free checked bags for you and a companion

  • Highest United earning rate of the co-branded cards

  • No foreign transaction fee

What does not

  • $695 a year, the steepest airline card fee out there

  • No intro APR offer at all

  • Credits need opting in and only pay off if you use those services

  • Miles are most valuable on United and Star Alliance

The full review

This is a lounge card first and a rewards card second. The United Club membership is the reason to hold it, and for someone flying eighteen segments a year the value is not theoretical: lounge access on every trip, plus guests, plus two checked bags for two people.

The 2026 fee increase to $695 changed the calculation for everyone else. The new credits soften it, but credits only count when you would have spent that money anyway, and several of them require you to opt in each year.

Miles are worth the most on United metal and Star Alliance partners, where premium-cabin redemptions can go far beyond a cent per mile. Redeemed for gift cards or merchandise, they are worth notably less.

Common questions

Is the annual fee really $695?
Yes. It rose from $525 during 2026, applying immediately to new applicants and at renewal for existing cardholders.
Who gets into the lounge with me?
The membership covers the primary cardholder and eligible travel companions, including one adult guest and dependent children under the terms United publishes.
Is there a 0% intro offer?
No. This card has no promotional APR on purchases or balance transfers, so a carried balance accrues interest at the ongoing rate.
