Three points per dollar on six everyday categories, no annual fee and no foreign transaction fee. The categories are fixed, so this card rewards a spending pattern rather than a strategy.

The full review
The Autograph is what a no-fee travel card should look like. Restaurants, travel, gas, transit, streaming and phone plans all earn 3X, and those six categories cover a large share of a typical month without asking you to activate anything.
Two details make it work abroad. There is no foreign transaction fee, which alone separates it from most cash back cards, and the Visa Signature benefits include rental car coverage when you pay for the whole rental with the card and decline the counter insurance.
The gap is groceries. If most of your spending is at the supermarket, the 1X rate there will cost you more than the 3X categories give back, and a flat-rate card is the better fit.
